The regulatory framework already exists to require CSR/Sustainability reporting by SEC registrants - those companies registered with and reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States.

To put it in numbers, this represents approximately 12,000 to 14,000 companies.

We believe that the SEC will make an announcement soon - possibly as early as the 1st qtr of 2010. Our best guess is that they will release a request for information or at most a proposed rule with 90 day comment period. Read our articles here:
